1984

"In Oceania there is no law. Thoughts and actions which, when detected, mean certain death are not formally forbidden, and the endless purges, arrests, tortures, imprisonments and vaporizations are not inflicted as punishment for crimes which have actually been committed, but are merely the wiping out of persons who might perhaps commit a crime at some time in the future." Pg. 220

I chose this quote because it reminds me of the movie Minority Report, where the police arrest people for crimes that they are going to commit in the future. This movie is actually pretty closely related to the book 1984, and Goldsteins interpritation of how the government works, in the fact that the police strongly enforce the laws of the city/country. In both the book and movie, if you are convicted of crimes, you are sentenced to death.
